The Vision

The Common Data Platform (CDP) is a strategic effort sponsored by campus leadership that will ensure the campus’ data assets support the mission and vision of the University.

The Common Data Platform will transform the information experience, empower business units, and provide stewardship over shared campus resources to support student and employee success.

For more details on how CDP will transform the information experience, check out the Key Objectives & Benefits.

THE PROGRAM APPROACH

Delivering the CDP will require multiple years and strong stakeholder partnership to be successful.  The program will leverage an agile, incremental delivery approach such that value is delivered to campus each year.  Ultimately, once the foundational functionality is in place and the core of the Enterprise Data Model is available, the CDP will transition into operations with processes for continuous improvement.

For more details on the program approach and milestones, check out the Roadmap.

THE MODERN DATA STACK

CDP will deliver a set of tools and technologies (i.e. "modern data stack") designed to effectively and efficiently manage data throughout its lifecycle.  The data management lifecycle includes stages such as data collection, storage, processing, analysis, and reporting.  By implementing a modern data stack, we wil lbe able to adapt to UCSC's evolving needs more quickly than the current +30-year-old infrastructure.

For more details on the capabilities of each stage of the data management lifecycle, check out the Technical Landscape.
